Unit 1:


1, Simple present (Thì hiện tại đơn)

Use: Dùng để diễn tả công việc xảy ra hàng ngày hoặc sự thật hiển nhiên trong cuộc sống, một lịch trình tàu xe

Structure:
(+) S + be/V
Eg: _ I get up at 6 every morning
_ She’s beautiful

(-) S + be + not + adj
Do not/ does not + V
Eg: _ I don’t like her
_ She isn’t as smart as you think

(?) Do/does + S + V?
Be + S + adj?
Eg: _ Are you thirsty?
_ Do you want to visit my house today?

* Các trạng từ thường đi kèm với thì này: Always, usually, generally, normally, regularly, frequently, often, sometimes, occasionally, hardly ever, rarely, seldom, never và các cụm từ oncea week, twice a year, three times a day

* Exercise:
1. If he……(see) you, he’ll give you a good talking-to
2. The earth ………… (circle) the sun
3. New York …… (be) a big city

2, Present continuous (Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn)

Use: Diễn tả một sự việc đang xảy ra ngay tại thời điểm nói chuyện hoặc một hành động có sắp xếp sẵn, chắc chắn sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai gần

Structure:
(+) S + be + V-ing
(-) S+ be + not + V-ing
(?) Be + S + V-ing?
Eg: _She’s studying in the library now
_ She isn’t jogging at the moment
_ Are you having your English lession?
_ We are leaving this afternoon (hành động được sắp xếp sẵn)

* Các cụm từ hay đi kèm với thì này: At the moment, right now, now, at present

* Ngoài ra chúng ta còn dùng thì này để diễn đạt sự phàn nàn. Hay đi chung với các từ như Always, continually
Eg: _ You’re always complaining. Stop it already!

* Dùng để diễn đạt sự thay đổi về các hiện tượng cuộc sống:
Eg: _The weather is getting colder and colder

3, Present perfect (Thì hiện tại hoàn thành)

Use: - Để nói về các sự việc vừa mới xảy ra và hậu quả của nó vẫn còn ảnh hưởng đến hiện tại.
  -  Khi chúng ta nói về sự việc mới diễn ra gần đây, chúng ta thường dùng các từ như 'just' 'already' hay 'yet'
  - Để nói về sự việc xảy ra trong quá khứ và vẫn còn tiếp diễn ở hiện tại
  - Khi nói về trải nghiệm hay kinh nghiệm. Chúng ta thường dùng 'ever' và 'never' khi nói về kinh nghiệm.
  - Chúng ta cũng có thể dùng thì hiện tại hoàn thành để nói về sự việc xảy ra và lặp lại nhiều lần trong quá khứ.

Structure:
(+) S + Have/has + Vpp/ been adj
(-) S + Have not/ has not + Vpp
  Been + adj
(?) Have/Has + S +Vpp/ been…?
Eg: _ I have watched this movie before
_ She has become a professional player since she took part in the volleyball team
_ Have you ever eaten this kind of food?
_ He has just call me from America

* Các từ hay đi kèm: All Day, All Week, Since, For, For A Long Time, Almost Every Day This Week, Recently, Lately, In The Past Week, In Recent Years, Up Until Now, And So Far Since: từ khi (mốc thời gian) For: khoảng (khoảng thời gian) Several times: vài lần Many times: nhiều lần Up to now = Until now = Up to present = so far: cho đến bây giờ

* Mẹo dùng thì present perfect với after và before: Trong câu có hai vế, nếu ta thấy có từ after hay before, ta thường chia vế câu trước before và sau after là thì present perfect

* Exercise:

2. Nobody……… (ever climb) that mountain
3. I……(not see) him since he moved to Thailand
4. What are you talking? I……(see) her 5 minutes ago

4, Present perfect continuous (Thì hiện tại hoàn thành tiếp diễn)

Thì hiện tại hoàn thành tiếp diễn được dùng tương tự như thì hiện tại hoàn thành, nhưng để nhấn mạnh tính liên tục của sự việc được nói đến

Eg: _ She have been waiting for you for almost 5 hours
_ We have been working on this project since last sunday

Tuy là anh văn trình độ siêu cùi bép cơ mà t sẽ cố gắng chăm chỉ, có gì xin mọi người chỉ giáo. Ở phần present continuous có câu 5 thắc mắc sao lại dùng continuous nhỉ? Bạn nào giải thích dùm t cái? Cám ơn nhìu!

We use some adverbs to describe how frequently we do an activity.
~These are called adverbs of frequency and include:
Frequency         Adverb of Frequency         Example Sentence
100%         always        I always go to bed before 11pm.
90%        usually        I usually have cereal for breakfast.
80%          normally / generally         I normally go to the gym.
70%          often* / frequently          I often surf the internet.
50%          sometimes        I sometimes forget my wife's birthday.
30%        occasionally        I occasionally eat junk food.
10%        seldom        I seldom read the newspaper.
5%          hardly ever / rarely         I hardly ever drink alcohol.
0%        never        I never swim in the sea.


The Position of the Adverb in a Sentence(vị trí của trạng từ trong câu)

~An adverb of frequency goes before a main verb (except with To Be).(trạng từ chỉ tần suất đi trước động từ chính-trừ tobe)
Subject + adverb + main verb
I always remember to do my homework.
He normally gets good marks in exams.

~An adverb of frequency goes after the verb To Be.(trạng từ chỉ tần suất đi sau động từ tobe)
Subject + to be + adverb
They are never pleased to see me.
She isn't usually bad tempered.

~When we use an auxiliary verb (have, will, must, might, could, would, can, etc.), the adverb is placed between the auxiliary and the main verb. This is also true for to be.
Subject + auxiliary + adverb + main verb
She can sometimes beat me in a race.
I would hardly ever be unkind to someone.
They might never see each other again.
They could occasionally be heard laughing.

~We can also use the following adverbs at the start of a sentence:
Usually, normally, often, frequently, sometimes, occasionally
Occasionally, I like to eat Thai food.
BUT we cannot use the following at the beginning of a sentence:
Always, seldom, rarely, hardly, ever, never.

~We use hardly ever and never with positive, not negative verbs:
She hardly ever comes to my parties.
They never say 'thank you'.
We use ever in questions and negative statements:
Have you ever been to New Zealand?
I haven't ever been to Switzerland. (The same as 'I have never been Switzerland').

~We can also use the following expressions when we want to be more specific about the frequency:
- every day - once a month - twice a year - four times a day - every other week

Use: Diễn tả mộthành động, thói quen xảy ra và hoàn thiện hay kết thúc trong quá khứ
Structure:

Was not/were not + adj
(?) Did + S +V-inf?

Past continuous (Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn)
Use: Diễn tả hànhđộng kéo dài liên tục trong quá khứ hay hành động diễn ra tại một thời gian xácđịnh trong quá khứ (trong câu thường đi kèm thời gian)
Structure:
(+) S + Was/were+ V-ing
(-) S + was not/were not + V-ing
(?) Was/were + S+ V-ing?
Eg: _ I was doingthe housework at 6 yesterday
_ We werewatching TV all night yesterday
Ngoài ra, thì quá khứtiếp diễn còn diễn tả 1 hành động đang xảy ra thì 1 hành động khác chợt xen vàohay diễn tả 2 hành động diễn ra song song trong quá khứ (hay dùng với từ“while”)
Eg: _ The door cracked open when I was having dinner
_ My mom was preparing breakfast while my dad was reading a newspaper


Past perfect (Thì quá khứ hoàn thành)
Use: Dùngđể diễn tả 1 hành động diễn ra trước 1hành động khác trong quá khứ
Structure:
(+) S + Had + Vpp/been
(-) S + had not + Vpp/been
(?) Had + S + Vpp/been…?
Eg: _ We had hadthis car for 10 years before it broke down
  _ He had gone bythe time I went in
  _ I had neverseen such a beautiful beach before I went to Kauai

Câu 1.5: had owned (tương tự vậy)

Câu 2.3: didn't wash (đây chỉ là câu trần thuật đơn giản diễn tả hành động anh ta không rửa xe thôi)
Câu 2.4: talked (giống câu trên)
Câu 2.5: studied

Câu 3.2: were...doing (dịch câu để chia động từ nhé, câu này là bạn đang làm gì lúc vụ động đất bắt đầu mà bắt đầu chia ở QKĐ)
Câu 3.3: was listening ( ngôi I là số ít nhé)
Câu 3.4: were...doing (hỏi về thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ)

*Mình nghĩ là thì Hiện Tại Đơn còn có một cách dùng nữa, đó là nêu lên "cảm xúc hay suy nghĩ của một người tại thời điểm nói".
VD:
A: Nam's learning English now.
B: I think he's very hard-working.
Trong ví dụ này, rõ ràng tình huống đang xảy ra tại thời điểm nói nhưng B lại dùng "think" thay vì "thinking".

*Chắc chắn có bạn sẽ phản bác rằng "think" là một trong các động từ tình thái nên k dùng tiếp diễn. Nhưng chính xác thì các động từ tình thái ít khi được dùng với tiếp diễn chứ k phải hoàn toàn k dùng.
VD:
I'm wondering if I should do that.
-> wonder cũng là một động từ tình thái nhưng đâu phải là k đc dùng tiếp diễn :)

Có 2 dạng: Willvà be going to
Structure:
Will: S + will +be/V-inf
Be going to: S +be going to + be/V-inf
